Introduction to Agile is a fun, hands-on, 1-day interactive workshop – 13th June 2018, Zürich, Switzerland

Introduction to Agile

Are you interested in Agile but not sure where to start?

Do you want better ways to work and want to know about best practices?

“Agile” is a global revolution transforming both teams and entire organisations. Now, finaplana AG and Avaloq AG are pleased to bring the Introduction to Agile 1-day workshop to Switzerland.

Starting with a brief history of “Agile”, and then delving into key concepts and terminology in an interactive workshop session, Introduction to Agile will give you the tools and information you need to begin leveraging Agile practices in your own team.

Introduction to Agile provides the knowledge of the fundamentals that lead toward a mastery of team performance, business agility and product management excellence.

Introduction to Agile is about the five questions …

  • What do we mean by “Agile” and “Agility”, and what is (and isn’t) it?
  • What are the benefits of moving to a more agile way of thinking and acting?
  • What are the main agile methodologies and what do they offer?
  • How can Kanban and work-in-progress (WIP) limits be used to immediately lift team performance?
  • What does “working Agile” really feel like?

… that will kick-start your Agile journey.

The Introduction to Agile course is a 1 day condensed, pragmatic, experience-based introduction into the history and practice of “Agile” which can be taken as standalone course and which also leads into our other XSCALE Certification courses.

Next course – Zürich, 13th June 2018

Why learn about Agile ?

Introduction to Agile

Put simply, “Agile” is a philosophy about managing and accepting change and finding ways to create value sooner and minimise waste.

Thats why at finaplana AG, we say Agile is “Quicker, Cheaper and Better”.

Introduction to Agile

Who

Introduction to Agile is aimed at anyone who is relatively new to the concepts and terminology of “Agile” methodologies and interested to understand why and how an Agile way of working can improve individual, team and organisational performance and levels of satisfaction.

How

Introduction to Agile starts with a brief description of the history and development of “Agile” and explains what it means (and doesn’t mean).

Directed by the goals set by participants in each individual session, the course then explains the fundamental principles and terminology before introducing some of the key Agile methodologies and explaining what they provide as well as some potential traps to look out for during adoption.

The Introduction to Agile course is a condensed, pragmatic, experience-based introduction into the history and practice of “Agile” which can be taken as standalone course and which also leads into three other industry standard XSCALE Agile Certification courses.

What

Starting with a brief history and definition of the term Agile,  we explain clearly and succinctly what Agile is (and isn’t) and highlight the main benefits of an Agile way of working.

Introduction to AgileNext we introduce and describe some of the main Agile methods, including XP (eXtreme Programming) and Scrum. We introduce critical Agile and XP practices and terminology, including using continuous feedback to minimise technical debt and maximise efficiency of collaboration, Sprints, Retrospectives, stand-ups and “YAGNI” (“You Aren’t Gonna Need It”).

Heroes & Villains - XSCALE Alliance Agile Training Game with LegoUsing the Heroes & Villains Lego simulation game, we introduce Scrum-ban as a more effective pattern which combines Kanban, the first and simplest Lean method, with the collaborative ceremonies that gave Scrum its form. It replaces the weaker aspects of Scrum with one-piece flow, continuously pulling backlog items into a “done” state rather than pushing new work into progress to maintain needless sprint commitments.

Then we show how Stream Kanban & Throughput Diagrams are used to provide a continuous view of workflow across multiple teams per stream. Throughput diagrams combine business analytics with workflow cumulative flow curves to make it easy for teams to visualise and open their mutual bottlenecks. XAP uses physical cards on a wall to teach teams how to generate and combine these artefacts to coordinate delivery priorities continuously without requiring big-room planning meetings.

Additionally, we explain how Behavior Driven Development (BDD) makes sure system behaviors remain consistent even when many independent teams are continuously varying them. We also explain the importance of continuous integration/delivery/deployment and how you can begin transitioning towards a DevOps style working environment.
